dvs. at rigtig mange bliver smittet i løbet af få uger. Ved influenzaepidemier smittes op mod 1 mio. mennesker i Danmark.
Sundhedsstyrelsen anbefaler vaccination af personer i risiko for alvorlig sygdom.

Seasonal influenza vaccination should be renewed every year from late September until early December.
Flu epidemics occur in Denmark usually from January to March, sometimes, however, already in December.
Scientific studies show that seasonal influenza vaccine provides protection at 67% -92% against the
development of flu. The remaining will have a milder illness if they become ill from influenza.
Vaccination with seasonal flu can cause local swelling, rash, itching and tenderness at the vaccination
site. 1-2 days after vaccination slight fever can occur. Serious vaccine reactions may occur, but these are extremely rare.
The vast majority of those vaccinated have no side effects. Every year there is approximately 700,000 influenza
vaccinations in Denmark.
.
Persons with hypersensitivity to formaldehyde may not be vaccinated.
People with allergy to chicken eggs should not be vaccinated because the vaccine may contain proteins from eggs.
If a person can eat eggs, vaccination can be given safely. By febrile illness, vaccination should be postponed.
Limited data from vaccination of pregnant women have not demonstrated adverse effects on
the fetus or mother. Vaccination can be given from the second trimester of pregnancy. Flu vaccines can be given during lactation.
